Diploma of Project Management


The Diploma is for those who:

  • develop project management plans and have sole responsibility for achieving a project’s objectives
  • report the outcomes of a project to a higher authority in your organisation
  • monitor and review the whole project as it progresses through its lifecycle.

Candidature 12 months
Study Workload: 160 - 180 hours, plus time spent preparing and detailing assessment tasks. You can complete the course within a 20 week period at 8-10 hours per week.
Entry Requirements: Participants need to be currently working in a project environment - or be able to access a work-based project at the level you wish to study.

Competencies:

The Diploma of Project Management is assessed against the following national project management competencies:

Assessment: Consists of a two part work-based assignment during which a project plan for a nominated project is produced. In addition students are required to provide evidence (in an Assessment Record Book) to demonstrate the application of skills and knowledge in line with the competency standard for project management.

SKILLS OUTCOME

On completion, students will have achieved the knowledge and skills to plan and manage the critical elements of projects and to:

  • Write effective project plans to meet the delivery requirements of corporate/business expectations
  • Use mechanisms linked with the plan for the day-to-day control of projects to meet objectives
  • Provide quality deliverables, with the ability to meet reporting requirements on demand
  • Select appropriate tools to support monitoring and control mechanisms
  • Assign agreed responsibilities to get the best out of core and broader team capabilities.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)

Given some participants may already be able to demonstrate their competence in some units, RPL is available and acknowledges skills and knowledge that may have been gained through formal and informal training and/or learning, work experience and life experience.
